It was an absolute pleasure learning to drive with Mike, I finally got there on my 3rd time but Mike never gave up on me. I would and have recommended him to all friends and family interested in driving.
So after years of trying and failing and literally thousands of pounds spent, I reached out to Mike. He was really understanding of my nerves and incredibly helpful and super supportive. I honestly felt so much better with Mike, he could see when it was getting to much and would just stop and breath with me. I would encourage any learners to take a course with mike he is amazing
🙂thank you so so much I will be forever grateful
From having 0 driving experience, I managed to pass first time within a week . Couldn’t have had a better instructer and the support even before lessons was unbeatable . Definitely recommend !
I Definetly recommens this course. Mike is a fantastic instructor who is great at giving learners confidence on the road and provides great instructions for all required manoeuvres. Was a very pleasant experience all around.
There was no way I would have passed first time without this course. Mike was so helpful and lovely to be with. I would 100% recommend doing an intensive course with him!
I started driving last Saturday and passed first time today! Mike is very friendly, funny and helpful. We stopped if I needed to breathe and calm myself. We had a good chat in between driving as well. Very supportive and wouldn’t have let me do my test if he didn’t think so. Couldn’t have done it without him! Recommended to everyone! 5 stars!
We met mike a month ago and today my brother passed his test for someone that needed that little extra help mike was so understanding and worked with him amazingly. Can’t thank you enough!
Had the best time getting back in the car with Mike. I was made to feel really comfortable behind the wheel again. I passed my test today and I honestly don’t think I would’ve been able to do it without Mikes encouragement. I’ve already passed his details on to other people who are keen to learn. Thank you both so much!!! (Ps sorry Mike if this post was too nice and not we’d discussed!!)
Mike is a brilliant driving instructor who really puts you at ease on the road, very calm and collective. I passed 1st time thanks to roadcraft.
Mike is friendly, personable and professional, we are so impressed with his driving tuition. Our son, Sam, has just completed the 18 hour intensive course and passed his test on his first attempt this afternoon. This is real value for money as a package, he gave Sam such confidence and has taught him to be a careful and safe new driver.
Fantastic instructor, Mike is absolutely brilliant, reassuring and fair, got my son through his text with 18 hours practice, highly recommended this driving school to anyone looking to pass their test and be taught honestly. Thank you so much Mike
Absolutely brilliant Instructor. Mike went above and beyond and made me feel totally safe on the road the entire time. Never felt put down when I made a mistake. Would recommend to anyone who is looking to learn.

Frequently Asked Questions
Got questions about driving lessons or your driving test? We hope you can find the answer here. But if not, send us your question and we'll be happy to answer.
Contact usHow can I reduce anxiety or nerves before my driving test?
Practice is key to building confidence. Relaxation techniques, being familiar with the test format, and having a good night’s sleep before the test can also help. Remember that failing your test is not the end of the world. There’s no limit to how many practical tests you can take.
Our students always tell us how quickly the test goes.
What should I do if I fail my driving test?
You can rebook your test. It’s advisable to take further instruction to address any issues identified during the test before retaking it.
Can I practice driving with a family member or friend?
Yes, as long as they meet the legal requirements for supervising learners, which include having a valid driving licence for at least three years and being over 21 years old.
We recommend having 10+ hours of professional tuition before practising with a family member or friend.
What are the costs associated with learning to drive?
Costs include the provisional licence, theory and practical tests, driving lessons, and possibly additional studying resources. Test fees are £23 for the theory test and £62 to £75 for the practical test.
Booking lessons in bulk can help keep costs down. The average driver needs around 35 – 45 hours of professional driving instruction to pass their test. Our 36-hour tuition package costs £1495.
We recommend you budget around £1,500 – £2,000 to pass your test if you’re a complete beginner.
How do I choose a good driving instructor?
- Experience: Look for an instructor with a good amount of experience in teaching drivers of all skill levels. Experienced instructors are better equipped to tailor their teaching methods to individual needs.
- Reputation: Check reviews and testimonials from former students. A good driving instructor will have positive feedback and a strong reputation for success.
- Teaching Style: Consider an instructor’s teaching style and whether it suits your learning preferences. Some learners may prefer a more patient and relaxed approach, while others might like a more structured and assertive style.
- Pass Rate: Enquire about the instructor’s pass rate, which can give you an idea of how successful their students are in obtaining their driving licenses.
- Car Type: Ensure the instructor has a vehicle that you’re comfortable learning in, whether it’s manual or automatic, and that it’s well-maintained and safe. (we are currently using a BMW 1-series with a manual gearbox).
- Availability and Location: Look for an instructor who is available at times that suit your schedule and is located near your home or school to facilitate easy pick-up and drop-off.
- Cost: Compare the costs of different instructors or schools, but remember that the cheapest option isn’t always the best. Consider the value you’re getting for the price.
- Personal Rapport: Having a good rapport with your instructor can significantly impact your learning experience. Choose someone you feel comfortable with and can trust.
What does the practical driving test involve?
The practical driving test examines your ability to drive safely and independently. It includes different maneuvers and driving in various road conditions. You must have passed the theory test before booking the practical test.
How many driving lessons will I need before I can take the practical test?
The number of lessons varies per person. On average, it takes around 45 hours of professional lessons, but this depends on your learning pace and ability.
What is the theory test, and how do I prepare for it?
The theory test assesses your knowledge of driving theory and hazard perception. You need a provisional licence to book the test, and you should prepare using the official materials and practice tests available online.
How do I apply for a provisional driving licence?
Apply online via the DVLA website or by post using form D1. You need to be at least 15 years and 9 months old, be able to read a number plate from 20 meters, and meet residency requirements. It costs £34 online and £43 by post.
What are the requirements to start learning to drive in the UK?
You can apply for a provisional driving licence at 15 years and 9 months old and start driving at 17, or 16 if you receive the enhanced rate of the mobility component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP). You must have a provisional licence and be supervised while learning. You can learn all about learner driver requirements at the gov.uk website.
